Founded in 2018, Friends of Baltimore County Cats is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-run, nonprofit organization in Baltimore, MD, dedicated to improving the lives of cats while at  Baltimore County Animal Services. We believe every life is worth saving and have devoted our time volunteering at the Baltimore County Animal Shelter.  We have provided socialization and enrichment to the hundreds of adoptable cats and kittens every year who are waiting for their forever homes and helped promote via social media since 2014.  In that time, we have identified areas in which we can be of even greater assistance and expand our scope of support.

WHO WE HELP

Rescue

Only

CATS

Many cats arriving at BCAS, due to chronic medical conditions, are only available for transfer to an approved rescue organization with the knowledge and resources to care for them.  These “rescue only” cats often require expensive procedures such as dentals and extractions, or supportive care and daily medication for conditions such as thyroid, heart murmur, stomatitis, and FIV.

Even with rescue discount prices provided by many generous veterinary practices, these procedures and daily care can be costly, preventing rescues from pulling these otherwise friendly, adoptable, and loving cats for assistance and ultimately adoption.

Our mission is to help provide financial assistance for the rescue only cats veterinary care.

Adoptable

CATS

The cats and kittens on the adoptable floor and in foster care benefit from life-enriching supplies such as beds, toys, and cat scratchers.  These items provide improved comfort and well-being, not only making their pending stay more pleasant, but increasing their happiness and sense of security.  A happy cat is a far more adoptable cat!  In addition, critical supplies such as KMR formula, bottles, and warming disks are urgently needed for saving the lives of neonatal kittens.
